How do I contact the fire chief ?

To contact the Fire Chief call 207-667-6231 and leave your name and number.

Where can I find the Stations ?

Station 1 is located on the Cemetery Rd. in the village. Station 2 is located in the Heights section of town on U.S. Hwy 1 just across from Thibodeau Concrete.

Why do the fire trucks use their lights when backing into the stations ?

Our drivers are trained to use the lights whenever there is a safety issue. We need to stop traffic when backing into the stations, so our drivers aren't distracted. Please stop for out trucks when the lights are running!

Who can join the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department?

Any person that would like to join the department, should notify any officer. Then come to one of our meetings, which are held the second Monday of each month. We also have a Junior Fire Department for anyone 15 years old to 18 years old.

What is the best time of year to change my smoke detector batteries?

You should change your smoke detector batteries twice a year! We suggest when you change the clocks for daylight savings time, change those batteries.

Is 911 active in Hancock ?

All of Hancock County now uses the 911 system. For any emergency dial 911.

 Replace your smoke detector batteries regularly.

Spring clean-up season is on! Fire permits are required for all open burning. See Bing Lounder or Charlie Wheeler to get your permit. 

Remember the Town office or the Fire Chief cannot issue Burn Permits.
